Grace Lu Takes SCIAC Women's Golfer of the Week Accolades

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior Grace Lu captured the SCIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week award for events through Sunday, March 13, the league office announced today.

Lu earned a top-five finish at the Westbrook Invitational at the Lakes, hosted by George Fox on Saturday and Sunday. She shot a 74 on Saturday to enter the second round in ninth, and moved up five spots to a fourth place finish with a 73 on Sunday to earn a 147 (+5).

She was exceptionally steady, with 29 pars on 36 holes, to go along with one birdie. Her fourth place finish was the highest for any of the SCIAC competitors, finishing a shot ahead of teammate Stella Cheng, as well as two competitors from Redlands. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Georgia to compete in the Jekyll Island Invitational.
