Athena Basketball to Host National Girls and Women in Sports Day Wednesday

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The CMS DEIB Committee, Athena student-athletes and the CMS Women Empowerment In Sports (WEIS) Club are excited to host our National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD™).  Celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

An opportunity to meet and learn from current Athena student-athletes, the event will expect over 30 youth from the Claremont area and expose them to a variety of sports, feature a history of women in sports session, and conclude with a CMS women's basketball game against Redlands, that tips off at 7 p.m.

"February 7, 2024, marks the 38th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD)," the Women's Sports Foundation released in a statement. "This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life. WSF ushers in 2024 excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We are proud of this tremendous milestone and appreciate all who have, and continue to, support us in our mission – and join us on this important day.

A vibrant movement we celebrate annually, NGWSD honors the achievements of girls and women in sports and continues to Lead Her Forward by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential."
