Austyn Masuno Earns First-Team All-SCIAC Honors for CMS Women's Basketball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior forward Austyn Masuno earned a spot on the 2021-22 All-SCIAC first team, the league office announced this morning.

Masuno captured her accolades after a regular season which saw her average a double-double for the Athenas, with 15.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She was also a major factor on the defensive end, where she averaged 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest. 

Masuno was also remarkably consistent over the course of the season, scoring in double figures in every game she played in except one. Her high was 24 points against Occidental, and she closed out the regular season wtih 21 against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. She also had 12 double-doubles on the year, registering 18 rebounds twice, against Pacific (Ore.) and in the first meeting with Pomona-Pitzer back in December, while also pulling down 17 against La Verne. 

CMS will be in action this evening at Whittier for the SCIAC Quarterfinals, which will be held at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will move on to Thursday's semifinal round against the winner between top-seeded Redlands and eighth-seeded Cal Lutheran.
