Women’s Basketball SCIAC Tournament Information
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The top four teams in SCIAC face off in the conference tournament on Thursday and Saturday this week. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the regular season title outright with a perfect 16-0 record and is the No. 1 seed for the upcoming SCIAC Tournament. The Athenas will host No. 4 seed Redlands (9-7) in one semifinal while No. 2 Cal Lutheran (13-3) host No. 3 Chapman (10-6) in the other semifinal game.
Both semifinal games will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The final will be played at the highest remaining seed's house on Saturday, Feb. 28. The winner of the final earns the automatic qualification to the NCAA tournament. Check the women's basketball schedule for further game information.
ADMISSION: CMS will host in the Linde Activities Center at Harvey Mudd College. A map of Harvey Mudd's campus can be found here. As this is a conference playoff event, admission will be charged as follows:
- All SCIAC students, faculty, and staff are free with institutional ID.
- Children 12 years of age and under are FREE
- General Admission of $5 is charged for all others.
- No complimentary lists for team members, parents, etc.

In the first semifinal game, CMS takes on Redlands for the third time this year. CMS has come out on top twice to the tune of 61-51 and 61-48. The Athenas' offense is led by Kimberly Scamman and Kris Brackmann who average 14.9 and 10.5 points per game respectively in SCIAC play. Sophomore Claire Donnelly is third in SCIAC with 15 blocks on the season. The CMS defense leads SCIAC, only allowing an average of 45.5 points per game against conference opponents. Redlands is led by Victoria Fakalata with 11.2 points per game. Kaity Lykins is second in SCIAC with a 76.7 free throw percentage. The Bulldogs have been in the SCIAC Tournament every year since its inception in 2008.
The second semifinal game features two teams that have split during the regular season, with Cal Lu winning 79-77 and then Chapman taking the second game 61-57. The Regals have two shooters in the top five of SCIAC for three-point percentage: Jessica Salottolo (40%) and Chelsea Jacoby (37%). Cal Lutheran leads SCIAC averaging 3.8 blocks per game. Chapman is the No. 3 seed in the tournament and is led by Andrea Villanueva with 14.0 points per game. Four Panthers average more than two assists each game and as a team, Chapman is second in the conference with 15.9 per game.
In SCIAC women's basketball history, an undefeated conference season has been accomplished just eight times; CMS (87-88 and 14-15), La Verne (89-90), Occidental (79-80) and Pomona-Pitzer (four times from 1981-1985). This is the eighth regular season title in program history, the second consecutive under Coach Dowling in just her third year at the helm.
