Erani and Tavé Named SCIAC Athletes Of The Week

Robbie Erani (SO, New York, NY) and Jennifer Tavé (SO, St. Germain, France) have been selected SCIAC Athletes of the Week for the week of March 8-14.

Erani went 4-0 in singles and doubles as the fifth-ranked Stags beat #9 Carnegie Mellon 7-2 and #13 Trinity University 9-0 with both matches at home. Erani partnered with Ronald Wu to win 8-2 at #2 doubles against CMU and then won 6-4, 6-2 at #1 singles to clinch the win. Against Trinity, he and Wu won again at #2 by a score of 8-4 and he then battled to a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (9) win over the nation's 13th-ranked player. CMS is 7-2 overall.

Tavé ran the fastest 10,000 meter race in the NCAA (all divisions) this year at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday night. Her time of 36:04.27 is an NCAA qualifying mark, the second fastest in CMS and SCIAC history and the fastest time in 26 years. She averaged 5:48.3 per mile for the 6.21 mile race. The two halves of her race (17:50, 18:14) are the second and third fastest 5K's in the SCIAC this year. Although a sophomore, this is her first season of collegiate track.
