Jim Dewar was one of the best middle distance runners in CMS history.  He was a four year competitor in both track and cross country.  He had track bests of 1:51.9 for the 800 meters, 4:17.0 for the Mile and 9:38.8 for the 2 Mile.  Upon graduation, he held the school record in the 800 and 2 Mile and was second in the Mile.  He also was a key member of two school record relays.  His anchor leg of 1:51.3 on the Sprint Medley at the Mt. SAC Relays was key leg for that record and he also had the fastest leg on the 4 x 880 relay record.  Dewar competed at the NAIA National Championships in 1965 where he finished eighth and then competed at the NCAA Championships that same year.  As a senior, he finished sixth in the 1000 yard final at the AAU National Indoor Champions.  In cross country, he earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors as a senior.  Dewar served on the Harvey Mudd Board of Trustees from 1995-1998.
