Bio

Henry Mornachel is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball program in 2021-22, joining the Athenas with 15 years of coaching experience, the last five of which came in the SCIAC. 

Moranchel most recently served as an assistant coach at Occidental College for the last two years. Previously, he served as the interim head coach at La Verne during the 2019 season, after beginning with the Leopards as a volunteer assistant in 2018 and being upgraded to a full assistant role in January of 2018. 

During his time with La Verne, Moranchel helped the Leopards to SCIAC regular season and tournament titles in 2017, earning a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships, and a repeat as regular season champions in 2018.

Prior to joining the SCIAC ranks, Moranchel served as the head coach at Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, where he was named the school's Senior Coach of the Year. He also served as an assistant coach and freshman head coach at Bishop Amat High School in 2012, and as the head coach at Oak Avenue Intermediate School from 2010-12. 

Moranchel's travel ball experience includes serving for four years as the head coach of the Nemesis Elite Softball Experience from 2012-15, and as the head coach for Temple City ASA 14U-18U from 2006-12. 

Moranchel earned his bachelor's degree from the University of La Verne in movement and sports science. He also recently completed a master's degree from West Virginia in physical activity and sports science. He is married to Allison Moranchel, who is also joining the CMS softball program as an assistant coach in 2021-22.
