Kristin LeBlanc Earns SCIAC Hitter of the Week Honor for CMS Softball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Kristin LeBlanc of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team earned the SCIAC Hitter of the Week Award for games through Sunday, April 17, the league office announced today.

LeBlanc hit .625 on the weekend as CMS took two out of three from league-leading Chapman to get in the hunt for the regular season title. She tripled and scored the only Athena run in a loss on Friday, and was then 4-for-6 in a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, stealing two bases and contributing an RBI double in the opener.

The series win moves CMS to 12-6 in the SCIAC heading into a bye week, tying it with Chapman (10-5) in winning percentage, one game behind Redlands in first at 13-5. The Athenas have three games left and they have the tiebreaker with either Redlands or Chapman, due to 2-1 wins in the series on both occasions.

LeBlanc joins Destiny Garcia and Ananya Koneti as SCIAC Hitter of the Week winners this season, while the Athenas have also won four Pitcher of the Week honors, two from Lauren Richards, and one from Heather Shipley and one from Jade Johnson

CMS will be back in action in two weeks after a bye weekend for a three-game series with Pomona-Pitzer on April 29-30, including a home doubleheader on April 30 which will serve as the program's Senior Day.
