CMS Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at NCAA Pre-Nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team edged out Emory in a close battle for second place at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals, held at E.B. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.

The Stags finished with 135 points, just ahead of Emory in third place with 137. MIT earned the team title with a strong effort, finishing with 46 points.

Miles Christensen had a big day for CMS, finishing in sixth place with a time of 24:33.5 over the 8K race. Will Kimball was the second Stag to cross in 25th place in 25:05.7, followed closely by Adam Wilkinson in 27th in 25:09.0.

Daniel Sealand was the fourth Stag finisher in 25:27.1 to come in 38th place, while Kyril Van Schendel was the fifth scorer in 41st place in 25:29.5. Oliver Pick was just off that pace, coming in 43rd (25:34.5), while Nick Taubenheim showed his future potential as well, earning 57th in 25:43.2.

The race was held at the same site where the NCAA Division III Championships will be held in November. The Stags, currently ranked No. 9 in the country, will be trying to qualify as a team for nationals for the 13th straight season and improve on a sixth-place finish the last time they competed in 2019.

CMS will be back in action next weekend in Claremont, when it participates in the annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
