CMS Men's Cross Country Moves Into Top 10 in Latest National Poll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team joined the top 10 in the latest USTFCCCA Division III poll, the organization announced today.

CMS moved up two spots in the national poll, ascending from the No. 11 spot last week to No. 9 this week, following a strong showing at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday. Wartburg held down the top spot, followed by Williams in second.

The Stags have picked up where they left off in 2019, when they finished sixth at the NCAA Division III Championships. So far this season, they have competed in two events (Mark Covert Classic and UC Riverside Invitational) against largely Division I competition, and have finished fourth (of 22) and fifth (of 24), respectively.

CMS will be back in action this weekend at the Cougar Challenge, hosted by CSU San Marcos, before heading to the Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky on Oct. 2, where the Stags will run on the same course they hope to be on in November, when the NCAA Division III Championships take place.
