CHINO, Calif. – Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) Kevin Huang (HMC) finished in the top ten on Saturday morning to help the No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the SCIAC Championships.

Running at Prado Park in Chino, D'Anieri crossed the line in 25:49.59 to finish the SCIAC Championships in third-place. Kevin Huang (HMC) joined D'Anieri in the top ten with a seventh-place finish in a time of 26:10.81 in the 8K race.

The Stags finished with a team-score of 77 to place third in the conference behind No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 20 Occidental. Occidental finished nine points ahead of the Stags in the race with a team score of 68.

Along with D'Anieri and Huang's finishes in the top ten, the rest of the CMS scoring in the Championship came from a pack of Stags who crossed in the mid-20s. Freshman Stephen Steinberg (HMC) took 23rd-place in a time of 26:53.95 to earn 21 team points for the Stags.

Following Steinberg, the next 20 seconds resulted with four more Stags crossing the finish line. Charlie Harris (CMC) took 26th-place in a time of 27:09.60 on the 8K course while three Mudders, Max Denning (HMC), Kyle Suver (HMC), and Adam Schulze (HMC), finished in a row from 28th to 30th, just over two seconds apart from one another.

In total, the Stags claimed 13 of the top 50 finishers in the field.

CMS will now have a week off before they take to the course on Nov. 11 at the NCAA Regionals. This season the Regionals will be held right across the street with Pomona-Pitzer hosting.
