Aidan Nettekoven Earns SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior goalie Aidan Nettekoven captured the SCIAC Men's Water Polo Defensive Player of the Week for matches through Sunday, Sept. 11, the league office announced today.

Nettekoven had two big first-half performances in the two CMS wins this weekend at the Inland Empire Classic. He allowed just one goal in the first half of a 14-10 win over Concordia, staking CMS to a 10-1 halftime lead, and had eight saves and allowed only three goals in the first half of an 11-10 win over Air Force.

Nettekoven had 23 saves and allowed 19 goals over the four games at the Inland Empire Classic (.548 save percentage), but 19 saves and 9 goals (.679 save percentage) against teams other than USC, which is ranked No. 3 in Division I.

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it faces Stanford and Brown in neutral site contests at Whittier on Saturday. The Stags will face UCLA, USC and Stanford in the season's opening three weekends.
