Bio

Emily Ramey-Root is in her eighth year on the staff in the 2020-21 season and will coach the 400/800, multis, high jump and javelin.  While at CMS, Ramey-Root has coached 13 SCIAC Champions, 62 All-SCIAC members, two school record holders, 16 NCAA National qualifiers and five All-Americans.

While coaching for CMS, Ramey-Root pursued her Master’s in History from Claremont Graduate University. She recently finished her degree in May 2017. Previous to her academic career at CGU, Ramey-Root graduated from Concordia University (Irvine), in May 2013, with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science.

While a student-athlete at Concordia, Ramey-Root’s primary event was the heptathlon but she also contributed to relays, competing in two Indoor Nationals as the 400 leg for the Distance Medley Relay (2011 & 2013) and two Outdoor Nationals in the heptathlon (2012 & 2013). She currently holds the school record for the heptathlon [4244]. 

Prior to transferring to Concordia Irvine, she attended Concordia University Chicago where she received the Most Valuable Freshman award for the Indoor and Outdoor Conference meet, along with being the Indoor Women’s Team Conference Champions and Outdoor Conference Championships runners-up. She also holds the school record in the throwers relay and pentathlon.

In addition to her role as an assistant coach, Ramey-Root also serves as one of the advisors for the CMS Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
