Adam Sage Becomes First Stag to Break 30 Minutes in 10000 Meters

WESTWOOD, Calif. - Adam Sage set a new Claremont-Mudd-Scripps record in the 10000 meters, becoming the first Stag to finish in under 30 minutes (29:53.90) on Friday evening at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, hosted by UCLA.

Sage was the top collegiate finisher in the event, finishing second overall behind only Robert Miranda of the Hoka Aggies Running Club in 29:43.75. Sage's time took over 20 seconds off the old school record of 30:17.75, which was set by Stevie Steinberg in 2022.

Nick Taubenheim also competed in the 10000 meters for the Stags and ran a 30:25.86, which now places fourth in CMS history behind Sage, Steinberg and Brian Sutter, who ran a 30:25.13 in 2013.

Mason Ratkovich ran a 3:50.78 in the 1500 meters, which moves him into 10th place in CMS history, with Hayden Beauchemin right behind him, now placing 11th at 3:50.80 after breaking the steeplechase record earlier this season.

CMS also sent several throwers to compete at the Mangrum Invitational hosted by CSU San Marcos. Sarath Kakani had the highest finish with a third-place finish in the shot put at 50'0.75" (15.26 meters), while Kaden Cassidy (168'1") and Jason Bowman (163'4") were sixth and seventh in the hammer.

CMS will be back in action next weekend when it hosts the second SCIAC Multi-Dual beginning at 10 a.m.
