CLAREMONT, Calif. - Advik Mareedu of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, April 28, the conference office announced today.
Mareedu went 4-0 in singles and doubles as CMS closed out the regular season with wins over Caltech and Pomona-Pitzer, securing the program's 18th straight undefeated season in SCIAC play. Mareedu was dominant in singles, winning 6-1, 6-3 against Caltech and then picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Pomona-Pitzer in a battle between two teams that came into the match at 6-0 in league play.
Mareedu earns the honor for the second time this season, after winning it earlier this season in a week in which the Stags defeated Middlebury, Tufts and Williams. Anirudh Gupta also won it for earning the clincher in a 5-4 win over Bowdoin, and Warren Pham earned it after opening weekend, when he was 3-0 in singles.
CMS will be back in action when it hosts Chapman on Wednesday for the SCIAC Semifinals. Tickets are free for students with ID from a SCIAC institution, and others may purchase them online in advance through TicketLeap: https://sciac.ticketleap.com/chapman-at-cms---2024-mens-tennis-tournament/
