Marino selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2014 Academic All-District VIII at-large team Thursday and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis player Nikolas Marino has been selected to the first team.  The at-large team consist of athletes from the CMS sports of golf, swimming, tennis and water polo.

The San Diego, Calif. native is a junior Science & Management major with a 3.69 cumulative grade point average.  He is 23-3 in singles and 17-3 in doubles this season and will compete in the field of 32 singles players at the NCAA Championships next week.  CMS is 28-1 overall and will participate in NCAA Team Championships next week.  Marino will play #3 singles and doubles (with Zhenya Perverzin) for the Stags.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her Sports Information Director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
