Wood and Dorn Selected for NCAA Individuals

Wood and Dorn Selected for NCAA Individuals

Sophomores Warren Wood (Del Mar, CA) and Joe Dorn (Washington D.C.) of CMS Stags Tennis were selected for the NCAA Division III singles and doubles competition, which begins on May 23 in Kalamazoo, Michigan after the team championships are completed. For the second consecutive year, Wood was selected as one of the top eight players from the west region to compete in the 32 draw singles tournament.  Wood and Dorn also qualified for the 16 draw doubles tournament as one of the top four teams in the west.

The selection of teams and individuals for the championships are based on win-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes. Wood is 24-7 on the season and currently #2 in the west, with losses to only three Division III players. Wood and Dorn are 29-10 in doubles and are currently ranked #4 in the west.

The draw for the individual championship will be done by the men's tennis committee and will be released on the last day of the team championship. The 2012 singles title went to Dillon Pottish of Emory. Luis Rattenhuber and Austin Chafetz of Amherst took the doubles title. Emory is the defending national champion, having defeated Kenyon, 5-2, to claim the team title. For more information about the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships, log on to www.ncaa.com.
