MacColl and Palmer Named SCIAC Athletes Of The Week

Eric MacColl (SR, Greenbrae) and Harmony Palmer (FR, Oceanside) have been selected SCIAC Athletes of the week for the week of April 19-25.

MacColl partnered with Brandon Wei to win the Ojai Valley tournament in doubles as an unseeded team and also advanced to the Ojai singles semis. One of the eight 'nine' singles seeds in the tournament, he beat two unseeded opponents and then the sixth and third seeds before falling to the fifth seed. He was the only SCIAC singles player in the semis. In doubles, he and Wei beat an unseeded team and then the seventh, third, second and fifth seeds en route to the title.

Palmer went 8-13 (.615) as CMS won twice at Chapman and swept Whittier at home to clinch a share of the SCIAC title. After going 3-6 with a run and an RBI against Chapman, she dominated against Whittier. She was 5-7 with four runs, three doubles, a home run and eight RBI against the Poets in 10-1 and 9-1 wins. Her slugging percentage in the two games was 1.571. She finished her first SCIAC season hitting .537 with seven home runs and 43 RBI, all team highs. CMS is 32-6 overall and 21-3 in SCIAC.
