Hollimon, Conati Sweep SCIAC Weekly Awards for Second Time This Season

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Kendall Hollimon earned the SCIAC Diver of the Week and junior Marco Conati was named the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week, sweeping the league's weekly honors for the second time this season, the conference office announced today.

Conati and Hollimon also swept the two honors on Dec. 8, after a dual win over Pomona-Pitzer in a battle of the top two teams in the SCIAC. This time, the duo earned the two accolades after concluding the SCIAC regular season scheduled undefeated with a sweep of Occidental and Whittier at a tri-meet hosted by Whittier on Saturday.

In the diving events, Hollimon remained perfect in SCIAC competition as he looks to close out his senior season by going eight-for-eight in league championships. He took the one-meter dive by 40 points, finishing with 290.45, and then had an almost 90-point margin of victory in the three-meter, finishing with 323.15 points, with second place at 233.50.

Conati picked up four swimming wins for the Stags as well, winning two individual events and two relays. He won the 50 free in a close race by one-tenth of a second, finishing in 21.66, and then added a comfortable win in the 100-yard butterfly, the event in which he earned All-America honors last year by finishing fourth nationally, touching the wall in 51.17 to win by over a second and a half.

CMS will be back in action at home this weekend for the CMS Invitational, with diving starting at 9 a.m. and swimming at 11 a.m., its final tuneup before the SCIAC Championships get underway. Axelrood Pool will serve as the host for the SCIAC Diving Championships on Feb. 15-16, when Hollimon will compete in his home pool for the final time, while the SCIAC Swimming Championships will be in Commerce, California from Feb. 20-23.
