Both CMS Swimming and Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar Team Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's and women's swimming and diving teams both earned Scholar All-America team honors for the fall 2018 semester from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the organization announced today.

The Stags and Athenas both easily crossed the minimum 3.0 team GPA requirement to earn Scholar All-America team distinction. The women's team carried a 3.49 team grade point average in the fall, with the men's team close behind with a 3.45.

A year ago, 16 members of the Stags earned Academic All-SCIAC distinction for having over a 3.4 GPA, while 14 members of the Athenas received SCIAC distinction.

Both CMS swimming and diving teams have also been excelling in the pool as well. The Athenas, who remain unbeaten in the SCIAC at 6-0, are currently ranked No. 10 in the nation in the most recent CSCAA Division III poll. Meanwhile the Stags, who are 5-1 in the SCIAC, are currently ranked No. 12.

CMS will next be in action when it hosts its final home meet of the 2018-19 season on Feb. 2, taking on both Cal Lutheran and La Verne in a tri-meet at Axelrood Pool. It will also be Senior Day for the Class of 2019, which will be competing in their home pool for the final time.
