Chase Keir Captures SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Accolades for Stags Soccer
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior center back Chase Keir of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team earned SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for games through Sunday, Oct. 15, the SCIAC office announced today.
Keir earned the award after helping CMS to a 1-0-1 week, stretching its unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2). The Stags allowed only two shots on target in two games, a 3-1 win over league-leading Occidental and a 0-0 tie with Chapman.
In the Occidental game on Wednesday, Keir played all 90 minutes at center back and helped hold the Tigers to only seven shots, with their goal in the 81st minute trailing 2-0 the only one they got on frame. Keir was part of a defense that did allow a shot at all until the 56th minute, when the Tigers missed wide.
Against Chapman, the Stags held the Panthers to just three total shots, and one on frame, which was a long-range shot in the second half.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday night when it travels to Whittier for a 7 p.m. contest.
