Ethan Tyng Captures SCIAC Athlete of the Week for Second Time This Season

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophomore forward Ethan Tyng was named the SCIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games through Sunday, Sept. 29, the league office announced today.

Tyng earned the award after scoring all three goals for the Stags in a 2-0 week that gave them sole possession of first place in the league standings. He had the only goal of the game in the first half as CMS defeated Whittier 1-0 on Saturday in a battle of league unbeatens and then scored both goals as the Stags improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the league with a 2-0 win at Caltech on Saturday.

It marked the second time this season that Tyng has earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor. He also captured it after his first two-goal game in his career, a 3-1 win over No. 9 Trinity back on Sept. 6. His second career brace on Saturday increased his team-leading goal total this season to five.

CMS, which now has a nine-game SCIAC winning streak dating back to last season, will be back in action for a big home contest with Redlands on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
