Ethan Tyng Earns SCIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophomore forward Ethan Tyng captured the SCIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for games through Sunday, Sept. 8, the conference office announced today.

Tyng earned the honor after an impressive performance in a big 3-1 win over No. 9 Trinity (Texas) on Friday. Tyng tallied his first career two-goal performance, opening the scoring in the first half, and then giving the Stags a commanding 3-0 lead with a goal in the opening five minutes of the second half. CMS was never seriously threatened thereafter, allowing just a late goal with seven minutes left to make the final score 3-1.

A year ago, Tyng came off the bench and had a solid season with three goals and two assists as CMS finished the year 15-2-1. This year, he has emerged as a regular starter at forward, and his breakthrough performance against Trinity helped the Stags to a major non-conference victory.

CMS, which is 2-2 on the young season, will be back in action on Friday when it plays its first home game of the season, taking on St. Thomas (Minn.) at 7 p.m. at Pritzlaff Field.
