CMS Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Kingsmen Invitational Behind Strong Second-Day Performance

MOORPARK, Calif. - Yuefeng (Michael) Ma and Jamison Tan each shot 67s on the second day of the Kingsmen Invitational on Tuesday at Moorpark Country Club, helping the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps bounce back with a 25-shot improvement to finish fourth out of 11 teams.

The Stags shot even par on Tuesday as a team to move up six spots and finish in fourth place at +25 for the tournament. Redlands won at +12, with Pomona-Pitzer and Menlo finishing second and third, with host Cal Lutheran fifth and Chapman sixth. 

Ma moved up into a tie for fourth place on the individual leaderboard with his second-day 67 performance at even par over 36 holes. Tan moved up into a tie for 11th out of 64 competitors. 

Ma played a bogey-free round on Tuesday for his best score of the season, earning five birdies and no bogeys. Tan had six birdies and one bogey, recording five birdies on the front nine and shooting -1 on the back nine. 

There were only eight rounds in the red combined over the two days, with Jonas DeLeon of Redlands shooting a 65 on Monday for the low round of the tournament, before tying with John Kim of Pomona-Pitzer for individual medalist honors. 

CMS will be back in action next weekend when it makes its annual trip to the Jekyll Island Invitational in Georgia.
