CMS Men's Golf Six Shots Back After First Day of SCIAC No. 2

POMONA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team shot a 287 (+7) on the opening day of the second SCIAC regular season tournament, standing six shots back as it tries to win its sixth league event in a row, dating back to 2020.
Pomona-Pitzer shot a 281 to hold down first place after the first 18 holes, with Occidental and Redlands at +10, three shots behind the Stags, and Cal Lutheran at +12.
Will Parker is in fourth place on the individual leaderboard for CMS after an even-par 70, including an eagle on the eighth hole. Kevin Jiang stands in a tie for sixth at +1, three shots behind individual leader Adam Cartozian of Cal Lutheran.
The Stags won the first SCIAC regular season tournament in February, and swept all three league events last year. CMS also won the first SCIAC regular season tournament in 2020, before the pandemic ended the year prematurely.
CMS will begin play in the second round tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Mountain Meadows.
