Men's Golf Tied For First in Preseason SCIAC Poll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team was chosen as the co-favorite in the SCIAC for the 2023 season in a vote of the league's coaches.

CMS and Redlands were tied for first in the poll, with each program receiving three first-place votes. Pomona-Pitzer (third) and La Verne (fourth) each earned a first-place vote as well, while Cal Lutheran, Occidental, Chapman and Whittier rounded out the poll.

CMS won the 2022 SCIAC title and ended up finishing third at the NCAA Division III Championships last year. After the fall season, the Stags were ranked No. 13 in the nation in the GCAA coaches poll, with Redlands seventh, Pomona-Pitzer 17th and Cal Lutheran 22nd.

Yuefeng (Michael) Ma earned the SCIAC individual title last season, while Will Parker, Adrian Chiu and Vijay Jain were first-team selections.

CMS will return to action for the first time since the fall season when it competes at the first SCIAC regular season championship on Saturday and Sunday at El Dorado Golf Club in Long Beach.
