Shorthanded CMS Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at CLU Kingsmen Invitational

MOORPARK, N.Y. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team, already playing without several of its top players traveling to Jekyll Island this weekend, competed on Tuesday with only four players and ended up in sixth place at the CLU Kingsmen Invitational.

The Stags entered the day tied for first, but shot a 315 (+27) on Tuesday to fall from a share of the lead down to sixth. Occidental shot a 295 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 598. Pomona-Pitzer had a 296 on Tuesday, but did not play on Monday, while La Verne shot a 297 to finish with a 599.

Vikram Chatterjee had his second straight even par to highlight the CMS performance, finishing in third place overall, behind only Cort Benner of Whittier (-4) and Michael Ordona of La Verne (-2). Chatterjee studied abroad in the fall, and was playing in his first tournament in over two years, and ended up earning third place. 

Edward Wu shot a 75 on Tuesday to finish with a two-round 148, placing him eighth in the field. Adrian Chiu shot a 76 for the second straight day, ending up 16th. 

CMS will head to Georgia this weekend for the annual three-day Jekyll Island Invitational, where it will compete against a large tournament field.
