CMS Men's Golf Tied for First after Opening Round of Kingsmen Invitational

MOORPARK, Calif. - The CMS men's golf team shot a 302 on the first day of the CLU Kingsmen Invitational at Moorpark Country Club on Monday, tying for first with La Verne heading into Tuesday's final round.

CMS and La Verne are in a tight battle that sees the top four teams separated by just five strokes. Occidental is one shot behind at +15 and Whittier is in fourth at +19.

On the individual leaderboard, Vikram Chatterjee is tied for second after shooting an even-par 72 for the opening round. Chatterjee was competing in his first round for CMS in over two years, after spending the fall semester studying abroad. 

Edward Wu is one shot behind Chatterjee at +1 in a tie for fourth, while Adrian Chiu shot a +4 to finish with a 76. Cort Benner of Whittier is the only player in the red after the first 18 holes, shooting a -2. 

The second round gets underway tomorrow morning, as CMS will try to win its fourth team trophy in five events so far in the 2021-22 season.
