Josh Angle Earns Third-Team All-America Honors from D3hoops

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior guard Josh Angle of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned third-team All-America honors from D3hoops.com, the website announced this weekend.

Angle averaged 21.5 points per game, ranking him in the top 20 in Division III (19th), while leading CMS to a 21-5 record and a national ranking in the D3hoops.com for a majority of the season. The Stags broke into the top 25 in large part to an opening-day win over No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, in which Angle scored a career-high 37 points.

A first-team All-SCIAC selection for the second year in a row, Angle was also named one of the 10 finalists for the Josten's Award last week, which is give to the Division III Player of the Year who best exemplifies athletic prowess, academic excellence and service to the community. In addition, he was chosen as the Division III Academic All-America Team Member of the Year, as chosen by College Sports Communicators.

In addition to his scoring average, Angle also ranked eighth in the country in three-point shooting (45.0 percent) and 18th in three-pointers made per game (3.0). He went over 1000 points in his career against Chapman in February and finished the year with 1100, despite only having 91 after his sophomore year, due to coming off the bench as a freshman and missing his sophomore season due to the pandemic.

Angle becomes the first All-American for the CMS men's basketball program, since Michael Scarlett in 2018.
