Josh Angle Named to D3hoops National Team of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior guard Josh Angle of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned a spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for games through Sunday, Jan. 1, the website announced this morning.

Angle earned the honor on the strength of a big-time shooting performance in a 71-44 win over Haverford on Friday, when he tallied 26 points in only 22 minutes. He shot 8-10 from the floor on the day, including 6-6 on three-pointers, tying for the third-best shooting performance from three in program history (behind only 9-9 and 7-7 efforts from former All-American Tyler Gaffaney). Of his two misses, one came on his first shot of the game, and the second came on a shot that was blocked in which he got the offensive rebound right back.

Earlier in the year, Angle earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 14, after scoring 37 points in an opening-day win over then-No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, passing his previous high of 36 set last season. He is now averaging 21.6 points per game on the year, while shooting 49.4 percent from three-point territory (39-79).

CMS, which stands 10-1 on the year and No. 13 in the latest D3hoops.com poll, will be back in action on Wednesday when it gets back to SCIAC play with a road game at La Verne at 7 p.m.
