SALEM, Ore. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team lost to Pacific University (OR) 53-35 on Friday, Nov. 22 and then came back to beat Willamette University 63-61 on Saturday.  The Stags' defense remained steady while they improved in shooting percentage for Saturday night's game.

A seemingly different team showed up for the Stags the next day. They staved off the Bearcats to notch their third win on the season. After shooting 23% from the field on Friday night, CMS improved to 45% on Saturday.

Gaffany had 13 points and freshman Scott Lynds was a big contributor with five total field goals, including three-three pointers to total 13 points as well.

Sophomore Jack Earley came off the bench and scored six points for the Stags and played solid defense.

CMS earned the win by the freshmen stepping up to support the continued efforts by the upper classmen.

The Stags play in the David Wells Classic this weekend with Johns Hopkins at 5 pm in Pomona-Pitzer's Rains Gymnasium on Friday (11/29) and then host UC Santa Cruz at 7pm on Saturday (11/30).
