Quintin Craig Earns SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Freshman wide receiver Quintin Craig captured the SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week Award for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team, the conference office announced today.

Craig produced a big play for the Stags in their 30-13 road win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday. CMS trailed 3-0 after the first quarter, and after going ahead 7-3, Craig produced a blocked punt which set the Stags up for their second touchdown and a 14-3 lead, keying a 17-0 run to end the half.

Cal Lutheran came back to within 17-13 in the second half, but the deficit was too big to overcome, as the block proved to be a key factor in the win.

Craig becomes the third CMS player to win the honor after Rich Brutto picked it up after a game-winning 47-yard field goal against George Fox and Kirby Baynes captured it after a 66-yard kickoff return in a win over Redlands. Justin Edwards (twice) and Walter Kuhlenkamp have also earned the Offensive Player of the Week this season, while Thanio Bright and Jacob O'Connell have captured the Defensive Player of the Week.

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it concludes the 2023 season with a road game at Redlands, when it will try to tie the program record for wins in a season with their eighth.
