Alessandro Maiuolo Earns SCIAC Specialist of the Week Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps senior kicker Alessandro Maiuolo was named the SCIAC Football Specialist of the Week for games through Saturday, Sept. 24, the league office announced today.

Maiuolo connected on all three of his kicks (two field goals and an extra point) in a narrow 25-21 win over Redlands in a non-league game, providing all of the CMS points in the first half on field goals from 32 and 27 yards. His efforts helped to keep the Stags within striking distance, until the offense was able to get rolling late for the comeback.

It marks the second time that Maiuolo has earned the honor in his career, with the first coming when he kicked three big field goals in a 16-9 win over Chapman, which clinched the 2018 SCIAC Championship and an NCAA tournament bid for the Stags. He was also named to the d3football.com National Team of the Week after that contest.

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it opens SCIAC play with a road game against La Verne at 1 p.m.
