Jacob Lyle Earns All-America Honors from D3football.com

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps left tackle Jacob Lyle earned a spot on the D3football.com All-America fourth team, the website announced this afternoon prior to the NCAA Division III National Championship game.

Lyle joins Victor Bunce as the only Stags to ever win national honors from D3football.com, after Bunce was an honorable mention selection in both 2015 and 2016. Brian Wahl, a teammate on the same offensive line as Lyle in 2018, earned second-team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association that season.

Lyle completed a stellar career as the CMS left tackle this fall, starting for four seasons and helping the Stags to a pair of seven-win campaigns. He also blocked for two of the top 10 single-season rushers in program history (Garrett Cheadle in 2018 and Justin Edwards this year), and has been part of an offensive line that has helped CMS rank in the top five in the nation in time of possession for three straight seasons, including second in 2018, first in 2019 and fourth this season.

In 2018, Lyle helped the Stags to their first-ever NCAA Division III Championship bid in 2018 when they won the SCIAC Championship. The clincher was a 16-9 win over Chapman, when CMS had almost 45 minutes of time of possession to keep the ball away from the high-powered Panthers offense.

In addition to helping CMS put up big offensive numbers on the ground this year, Lyle was part of an offensive line that allowed only eight sacks all year. He was a first-team All-SCIAC selection this season, after earning second-team honors in 2019, and also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, after carrying over a 3.8 GPA at Claremont McKenna.
