Jacob Fenton Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors for CMS Football

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophomore running back Jacob Fenton was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team, the league office announced today.

Fenton averaged over 10 yards a carry for the Stags in a 50-13 win at Whittier, carrying 18 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns, setting a new personal best in rushing yardage. He was part of an offense that ran for 425 yards on the day and accumulated 36 first downs, compared to just four for Whittier.

Fenton becomes the second CMS running back to win the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week award, joining Justin Edwards, who earned it after rushing for 204 yards in a win over Chapman. The work of the offensive line, left tackle Jacob Lyle, left guard Kamarion Porter, center Andre Nesbit, right guard William Zhang, and right tackle Anthony Carrano has continued in its role of paving the way for award winning running backs and racking up huge time of possession numbers (CMS had the ball for 44:33 in the Whittier win, compared to just 15:27 for the Poets).

CMS will be back in action on Saturday, when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a 7 p.m. contest, before returning home to face La Verne on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
