CMS Baseball Earns NCAA Division III Tournament Bid

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament, the NCAA announced this morning during its selection show.

CMS will head to an NCAA Regional at East Texas Baptist, where it will open play against Concordia (Texas), in a four-team regional that also includes Centenary (La.).

The Stags enter NCAA play with a 30-13 record, tying the program record for wins in a season set by the 1972 team. CMS was the runner-up in the SCIAC Tournament, matching the record with its 30th win against La Verne on the final day before falling to Pomona-Pitzer in the championship round.

CMS was one of four SCIAC teams to get in, as La Verne and Cal Lutheran also earned bids to the 60-team field.

The Stags will be making their first NCAA appearance since 1996, when they played a five-game series with Cal Lutheran before falling in the fifth and decisive game. CMS has been to the NCAA Division III Tournament seven times in all, after also earning bids in 1978, 1979, 1981, 1988 and 1990.

Start times for the East Texas Baptist regional will be announced later today.
