Sanders Earns SCIAC Hitter of the Week Award for CMS Baseball
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Julian Sanders of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the SCIAC Hitter of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Feb. 19, the conference office announced today.
Sanders had a big weekend as CMS took two out of three on its Texas road trip. He hit for the cycle over the course of a Saturday doubleheader, hitting a homer in a 2-for-4 effort in the opening game against Texas-Dallas, and then adding two doubles and a triple in a 5-for-5 effort against Texas Lutheran. He started the Sunday rematch with Texas Lutheran with an RBI single and a homer, giving him hits in eight straight at-bats.
Sanders becomes the second award winner for CMS this season, after Jarrett Korson picked up the Pitcher of the Week honor after opening weekend against George Fox on Feb. 2-3.
CMS will be back in action for a three-game series with Chapman this weekend, although weather could be a factor in when those games are played. The Stags are scheduled to play a home game with the Panthers at Redlands on Friday at 2:30, and then play a doubleheader at Chapman on Saturday, but with rain in the forecast on both days, there could be postponements or delays.
