Jarrett Korson Earns SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Accolades after Opening Weekend for CMS Baseball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Jarrett Korson of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the first SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Accolades of the 2023 season for games through Sunday, Feb. 5, the league office announced today.

Korson got the Stags started off on the right foot on the new season, striking out nine and walking none over 5.2 innings of work to help CMS to a 9-2 win over George Fox on Friday. Korson struck out the first two batters of the game, and carried a shutout through the first five innings before coming out in the sixth with a 6-2 lead.

Korson was a second-team All-SCIAC pitcher a year ago, when he finished the season with an 8-2 record. He also won the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week last year, after a 13-strikeout performance in a win over Bridgewater.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series with Lewis & Clark, which will be held at Azusa Pacific.
