Three solo homers on Senior Day for Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. – On Senior Day, John Rizzo hit two blasts to left field while freshman Trey Smith went yard over the left center fence for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team's only runs. The Stags lost 7-3 against Whittier on Friday afternoon.

Rizzo, Christian Hoxsie and Michael Gose were honored as the Stags' three seniors.

The hit count was almost tied in the Friday afternoon matchup between the seventh and eighth place teams in SCIAC but the Stags' errors tipped the scales in the Poets' favor.

Clayton Brock earned his first start at shortstop while Alex Clemens shifted over to second base. Brock had his first hit of the season and second in his career with a sharp poke out to right center. MacKenzie Menthen and Hoxsie each added two hits on the night.

For Whittier, Graham Pimm led with three hits while Cody Martinez had two RBIs.

CMS plays the final two games of the season at Whittier at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Following this series, the Stags play four games in the SCIAC Round Robin play. Check out the matchups at the bottom of the schedule page.
