Sarah Tocher - Women's Soccer
CLAREMONT, Calif. - As a senior, Sarah Tocher helped CMS women's soccer get off to a strong start to the 2019 season by getting the Athenas off to a strong start in both contests over the weekend, assisting on the game-opening goal in both wins.
Her first assist of the season came after only 74 seconds of playing time on friday, when she got into the box on the left side and played a perfect crossing pass to classmate Gabby Clouse, who one-timed the shot in from 10 yards out for a 1-0 lead over Johnson & Wales.
Tocher then assisted on her second game-winner in as many days against Illinois Wesleyan, when she won a ball along the right sideline, used her speed to turn the corner, and played another perfect cross into the box, which was one-timed into the roof of the net by sophomore Nicole Oberlag. Illinois Wesleyan came into preseason ranked No. 18 in the nation by D3soccer.com, giving the Athenas a quality win on their opening weekend.
CMS will look to build off its 2-0 start to the season when it hosts Pacific Lutheran on Friday night for a 7 p.m. contest at Pritzlaff Field.
