Austin Long - Men's Golf

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Junior Austin Long got off to a fast start in the first event of the 2018-19 season for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team, capturing the individual medalist honor at the Cal State Intercollegiate, hosted by Cal Lutheran on Monday and Tuesday at Olivas Links Golf Club in Ventura.

Long took first place at the event by shooting a 68-68-136 to finish at eight-under par, winning the tournament by two strokes. His efforts helped the Stags win the team title as well, finishing 14 shots ahead of Texas-Tyler with a two-day score of 13-under as a team. Long was in a tight battle for the individual championship, but birdied both 17 and 18 on Tuesday to earn the two-shot win. He also finished off his first 68 on Monday by carding an eagle on the 18th hole.

CMS will be back in action when it hosts a dual match with Chapman on Friday, which will be held at Los Serranos.
