Kelly Ransom - Women's Golf

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Kelly Ransom shot a three-under 69 during the second and final round of the SCIAC No. 2 Regular Season Championship on Sunday at Olivas Links in Ventura, helping the Athenas win their fifth straight team title this spring.

Ransom's -3 helped CMS set a single-round school-record with a 291 and hold off a Redlands team that also went low on Sunday with a 292. Her score tied for the low round of any SCIAC women's golfer this season, tying the standard set by teammate Emily Attiyeh on Saturday, and also tied the low round in program history for any SCIAC Tournament (tying Attiyeh and Loncki in the first round of the SCIAC Championships last year).  Ransom ended up tying for second at the tournament (along with teammate Mira Yoo), vaulting up from a tie for 13th after the first round into second place.

It was the fifth event in a row that the Athenas have earned a team title since returning from the holiday break. CMS has won a dual with Redlands, both SCIAC regular season tournaments, the George Fox Invitational and the Redlands Bulldog Classic.

CMS will be back in action in nine days when it looks to defend its 2018 SCIAC title at the three-day league championships at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena.
