Bio

A three-sport athlete in football (two years), basketball (two years) and golf (two years), Whitham particularly excelled on the gridiron. He held the Pomona-Claremont single-season scoring record, scoring 66 points in 1954. Pomona-Claremont Athletics split into separate programs in 1958. His record stood for nine years before being broken by a CMS Hall of Famer, and stood as a Pomona football record until 1996. Football career accomplishments: SCIAC leading rusher (120 carries, 583 yards), SCIAC leading scorer (11 touchdowns - 1954), first-team All-SCIAC (1954), honorable mention All-SCIAC (1953), Team Captain (1954).
