Bio

Parker played under Coach Arce on the first Stag baseball team in 1959 and on the first Stag football team in 1958. On the baseball diamond as an infielder, outfielder, and pitcher, Parker helped lead the Stags to a 22-13-3 record in its inaugural season when he hit .333 with 44 hits, 72 runs produced, 21 stolen bases and 2 home runs. In 1960, he set program records with a .415 batting average, 49 RBI, 81 runs produced, 8 home runs, and 51 hits in 38 games. Parker went on to play Major League Baseball and during his career, he won six-straight Gold Gloves in Los Angeles from 1967-72. He played his entire career with the Dodgers from 1964-72. The graceful fielder finished fifth in the 1970 NL MVP vote after hitting .319 with 47 doubles and 111 RBI. He helped the Dodgers win the 1965 World Series over the Twins, hitting .304 with a homer and 2 RBI, while playing error-free baseball in the seven-game series.
