CMS Statement on 2020 Fall Competition

CLAREMONT, Calif. - As many of you are aware, we have been working throughout the spring and summer to prepare in the hopes we would be able to return to competition.  Unfortunately, L.A. County and the State of California continue to experience a troubling trend in the number of COVID-19 cases and have not authorized us to reopen residential life on our campuses. For this reason, CMS Athletic competitions scheduled for fall semester are canceled.

Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of our students. We continue our commitment to explore meaningful competitive experiences for fall and winter student-athletes in the spring semester and will be working with the SCIAC on possible scheduling options for those programs.  Discussions and decisions related to spring sport competition will continue to take place throughout the fall semester.

CMS Physical Education courses will be taught virtually this fall with synchronous and asynchronous options available to students.  CMS Recreation will have a variety of virtual programming starting later this summer: classes, intramurals, and workshops. Our goal is to continue to support the fitness and wellness needs of our students, faculty, and staff during these challenging times.

All Athletic and Recreational facilities—including Roberts Pavilion and Axelrood Pool—will remain closed until further notice.
