The Claremont Colleges Men's Rugby Team is comprised of students from CMC, Pomona, Pitzer, and Harvey Mudd. The team competes in the Gold Coast Rugby Conference with teams such as USC, USD, Cal State Long Beach, and others. Men's rugby is one of the most successful athletic programs among the 5C's, consistently competing for or winning it's league and advancing to the national playoffs. The team won the USA Rugby Collegiate Division II National Championship in 2010, the NSCRO 15s National Championship in 2017, and the NSCRO 7s National Championship in 2018. The Lions were the first team to ever qualify for both the NSCRO 15s Final 4 and the NSCRO 7s National Championship in 2015-16.
The Men's Rugby Team plays home league matches on CMC's Parents Field, usually on Saturdays at 1:00 pm. The league season runs from mid-January winter camp, through late May or early June, with pre-season beginning in September. All players are welcome, and no rugby eperience is required. We will teach you!

2017-2018 Season Update:
The Lions' 15s team finished the 2017-18 campaign with a 9-3 overall record and finished as the NSCRO National Runner Ups.
The Lions' hosted the Pacwest Regional Tournament and prevailed as the Champions beating the University of Denver and Angelo State University. Conner Lehner was named the Pacwest Regional MVP.
The Lions' ended their regular season with a 5-0 overall record in the Gold Coast Conference Intercollegiate Rugby Division IAA Division. They tallied wins against the University of Long Beach State University, California State University Northridge, University of San Diego, Loyola Marymount University, and California State University Fullerton.
The Lions' traveled to the University of California Invitational where they played D1 powerhoused Army and UCLA. After sticking with Army for 50 minutes, Army pulled away late to secure a 43-10 victory. In a nationally televised game on the Pac12 Network the Lions lost a heartbreaker to UCLA 31-24 after after leading late 24-19.
The Lions' 7s team finished the 2017-18 campaing with a 14-1 overall record and finished as the NSCRO National Champions. The Lions overwhelmed their opponents 219-0 to win the NSCRO 7s National Qualifier at Elon University.
2016-2017 Season Update:
The Lions' 15s team finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 9-1 overall record and finished as the NSCRO National Champions.
The Lions' hosted the Pacwest Regional Tournament and prevailed as the Champions beating the University of Dallas and Cal Maritime Academy. Nick Urban was named the Pacwest Regional MVP.
The Lions' traveled to Vallejo, California to play in the California Cup and beat Santa Rosa Junior College to advance to the Pacwest Regional Tournament.
The Lions' ended their regular season with a 4-1 overall record in the Gold Coast Conference Intercollegiate Rugby Division IAA Division. They tallied wins against the University of San Diego, Long Beach State University, Cal State Fullerton, and Azusa Pacific.
2015-2016 Season Update:
The Lions' 15s team finished the 2015-16 campaign with a 12-1 overall record and finished as the National Runner-Up in NSCRO losing a tough contest to Mount Saint Mary's.
The Lions' 15s traveled to Vallejo, CA for the Pacwest Regional Tournament and prevailed as the Pacwest Champions earning a bid to the NSCRO National Championships. The Lions beat the University of Denver 48-15, jumping out to a 17-10 lead at half and then absolutely dominating play in the 2nd half. In the Regional Final, the Lions faced up against the Vatos of New Mexico Highlands University. The first half saw the Lions and Vatos exchanging scores with the Lions entering halftime with a 20-12 lead. The Lions came out firing in the 2nd half to go ahead 27 to 12 but the Vatos fought back and made the score 27-22 with about 15 minutes to go. The Lions scored the last 10 points and won 37-22. Bobby Chiu was named the Pacwest Regional MVP.
The Lions' 7's traveled to Stockton, CA for the NSCRO National 7s Qualifier and prevailed by beating the University of Pacific 31-12. The Lions are one of only two teams who have ever qualified for both a 15s and 7s National Championship and the first team ever to do it in the same year.
