Eslinger selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2014 Capital One Academic All-District ® Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Teams Thursday and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps senior Adele Eslinger has been selected to the first team. Eslinger is the only athlete from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to be selected to the Women's Academic All-District team.
The Edmonds, Wash. native graduated earlier this month from Claremont McKenna as a Linguistics/Spanish major. Eslinger earned First Team All-SCIAC honors this fall after finishing second at the SCIAC Championships and earned All-Region honors at the NCAA West Regional after finishing 22nd. She helped lead the Athenas to team titles in both races. She was the second Athena finisher at the NCAA Championships where she finished 83rd and helped lead CMS to a 14th place finish.
To be eligible for Academic All-District® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her Sports Information Director. First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
