CMS Women's Cross Country Finishes Seventh at Cougar Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team, running without the 10 runners scheduled to compete at the Pre-Nationals next weekend, earned a seventh-place finish at the Cougar Challenge, hosted by CSU San Marcos on Saturday.

Megan Maley finished 29th to lead the way for CMS with a time of 22:24.8. Carson McVay was second in 43rd place with a time of 22:57.6, while Jamie Habib (23:00.1, 46th), Serena Myjer (23:10.8, 52nd), and Lara Cunningham (23:15.1, 54th) also scored. 

CMS competed last week at the UC Riverside Invitational, and split their squad up for the follwing two weeks, with 10 runners going to Kentucky next weekend to run on the same course where the NCAA Championships will be held. Those runners were held out this weekend to avoid running three weekends in a row. 

Chico State finished in first place at the Cougar Challenge, followed by Stanislaus State and CSU San Marcos. Kaela Dishon of Stanislaus was the individual champion in 20:57.3. 

CMS will be back in action as a full squad on Oct. 9 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
