Video Tribute: The CMS Women's Cross Country Class of 2021

As part of NCAA Division III week (Apr. 5-11), we will be honoring the senior classes for all 21 of our varsity sports. A number of our student-athletes elected to take a semester or a school year off and could return to action next season, but we have chosen to honor the senior classes as they would have been, without the COVID-19 interruption. The members of the Class of 2021 lost so much of what they had built towards in their first 2-3 years of competition when the pandemic hit, but still clearly left their mark on CMS Athletics.

The 2019 women's cross country team celebrates the SCIAC title CLAREMONT, Calif. - The CMS Women's Cross Country Class of 2021 helped maintain an incredibly high standard for the program during their three years, and even took it a little higher.

In all three of their seasons of cross country competition, the Athenas captured SCIAC Championships, extending their streak to 10 in a row and allowing them to sweep the entire decade of the 2010s with league titles. As part of the track and field program in the spring, they also won SCIAC titles in 2018 and 2019, extending the streak for the Athenas in that program to five straight, before the 2020 spring season was suspended their junior year.

However, they also helped CMS get back to the top of the NCAA West Region. The Athenas had been the runner-up in the West for three straight seasons from 2014-16, but the Class of 2021 came and helped the program win three straight regional titles during their three years.
