NEW ORLEANS, Louis. – Following a strong showing at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship this past Saturday, three runners from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program were named on the 2016 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-American Team.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team finished in fifth place for the highest result in program history while the women's team placed 15th, three places better than their pre-championships poll placement, in the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship.

SALEM, Oreg. – The weather was not ideal for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country team on Saturday morning at Bush's Pasture Park, as the Stags and Athenas had to battle light showers in 56 degree weather and 18 miles per hour winds. Regardless, the two teams grinded it out to earn a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.

With the SCIAC Championships in the bag, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program will be heading to Salem, Oregon this Saturday to compete in the NCAA West Regionals. The men will be looking for a three-peat, having won the last two regionals and taking three in the last four years. The Athenas on the other hand will be looking to stop Willamette from repeating, falling in second place behind them the last two years.

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Following the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, October 29, the conference named 13 runners from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program on the All-SCIAC team, six from the men’s team and seven from the women’s.

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Head Coach John Goldhammer will guide the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s cross country program to their seventh consecutive SCIAC Championship, 26th overall, on Saturday, Oct. 29 as they head to Prado Park in Chino, California.

CMS takes top finish in Connecticut and Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country teams participated in two separate events on Saturday morning and managed to take a top finish in both events. The Stags won first place at the Connecticut College Invitational and finished fourth at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The Athenas on the other hand, placed third at Connecticut and took fourth at Pomona-Pitzer.

Stags and Athenas finish within top 3 at Coyote Challenge

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country teams finished within the top 3 at the Coyote Challenge hosted by Cal State San Bernardino as the Stags took second place (63 points) behind Division II #25 Cal Baptist University (60) while the Athenas finished in third (65) behind hosts CSUSB (26) and Cal State San Marcos (48). This was a strong finish in spite of the fact that this was their fourth consecutive racing week.

CMS Takes Top 10 Finish at UC Riverside Invitational

September 17, 2016

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country programs finished within the top 10 at the UC Riverside Invitational this past Saturday. The Stags took seventh place in the 8K event out of 22 teams with a combined score of 201 and finishing with an average time of 25:28.28. The Athenas on the other hand finished in 10th at the 5K event with a combined score of 226 and average time of 19:17.89.

Tavé joins staff at Academy of Art

Former Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach, Jennifer Tavé, has taken a coaching position at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Jen, a 2012 Scripps College graduate and CMS athlete was a two-time All-American in cross country (in 2009 and 10) and one-time in track (2011).
